There are many reasons that UDOT enters into agreements with entities outside of the Department. In all cases there has to be a mutual benefit to both parties in order for the agreement to exist.
This chapter will provide the user with information regarding types of agreements that are commonly entered into with other agencies along with examples of agreements. All agreements go through a formal approval process before being executed; they need to be reviewed by the district engineer, region director, and the UDOT legal team before the agreement can be executed.
Maintenance forces need to be aware of the various types of agreements and what agreements exist within their areas. Being familiar with the terms of the agreements allows maintenance to coordinate, plan, schedule, budget, and take the appropriate action as indicated within the agreements.
