It is important that UDOT Maintenance personnel be familiar with and know the condition of state facilities within their station boundaries. Knowing the condition of the facilities can help identify or report any new damage to the buildings during an emergency / natural disaster. It is important that anytime a UDOT employee observes building damage or a failure of any type that they contact their region facilities manager and coordinate with UDOT central maintenance. This allows prompt action to be taken in remedying the damage and if needed file a claim through State Risk. Timely reporting helps minimize additional damage to the buildings. If a natural disaster occurs such as an earthquake, tornado, wildfire, or other phenomenon, it is important to thoroughly inspect all elements of the facility and document any areas of damage (pictures, photos, diagrams, etc) and the extent of the damage.
