This is adapted from Martha Stewart's great resource, Hors d'Oeuvres Handbook.

  • 2 ripe Haas avocados
  • 1 t kosher salt
  • ½ medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 T fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno(removing  seeds is optional), finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime

Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and mash avocadowith a muddler,  fork or molcajete.
