HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
Ailsa, Katie and Summer lead the House assemblies this week to introduce the new positions of Junior Leader for S3, and further details can be read in their blog below. It was their first public speaking role and assembly since being appointed to the roles and they spoke confidently and clearly.
The team is currently deciding each of their strategic focuses for the year such as linking with primaries as part of transition. They will introduce themselves to the Parent Council at Monday's meeting and also speak at next Wednesday’s Awards ceremony.
Ms Holmes held a meeting with S6 for their upcoming Dalguise residential on 6-8 September, including a reminder to pack plenty of shaving foam for the infamous, extremely messy and extremely good fun foam fight on Saturday afternoon.
The forecast for the weekend is sunny, fingers crossed!

MGS website and School Handbook for parents
Our website is live!. Please head over and have a look, it has lots of useful information for parents - including our School Handbook and the School Calendar. The school calendar is now in Google format so you are able to add it to your own calendar should you wish.
If you would like to do this click the '+' sign that's at the bottom right of the school calendar, as shown in image below. This will mean you're kept up to date with all our events, e.g. Parent Consultations, Reporting dates, etc.
Senior Phase tracking reports
The first tracking reports for Senior Phase will be issued to pupils and parents in the week beginning 23 September. In line with our focus on attendance, your child/ren’s attendance in each class will be included in this report so that we can identify any concerns with attendance and progress as early as possible.
Year group attendance
Improving attendance to improve attainment is one of our school improvement priorities this year and we expect pupils’ attendance to be at least 90%. We are tracking pupils’ attendance carefully throughout the session and more information about our attendance strategy will follow. I hope parents and carers find this weekly update on each year group's attendance useful.

Hi everyone Katie, Ailsa and Summer here! We hope you all had a great week!
Our main focus this week was appointing the junior pupil leadership team. This opportunity is for the S3 year group only but we encourage anyone that is in the junior years to apply for this role when they are also in S3. This is something we have never done before but we hope it will help bridge the gap between senior and junior pupils. Our plan for the junior leaders is for them to shadow us in different school events, including prize giving and parents evenings. We also hope that they can bring a different, younger perspective on school life and can therefore help us tackle issues we face in school. This role is a great opportunity to make a big impact in our school! If you haven't already applied the application form is on the S3 Google classroom, the application closes on Sunday so if this sounds like something you would be interested in then please apply! We look forward to reading your applications and if you have any questions please let us know!
