HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
Our House Assemblies this week focused on sharing information about Pupil Voice and Active Schools. It's not easy to stand up in front of hundreds of your peers but the pupils did very well indeed and we look forward to hearing more from them throughout the year.
Some families may remember the MGS production of Strictly a few years ago and we’re delighted to let you know that it will be back in February 2023 (date still to be confirmed) to add much needed sparkle to the winter term. Da da da da da da da da da da da DAH!
Have a lovely weekend.

Kayla and Rory’s Weekly Rundown
Hi guys, it’s Kayla and Rory and welcome to our weekly rundown. We hope you all had just as good a week as we did and are enjoying getting back into the school routine.
Last week we sat down with Ms Hannan to set out our plans for the coming year, primarily the changes we are going to make to the current prefect system which we would like to let you know about. Firstly we are now going to open up prefects to S4’s so that our younger seniors are given more leadership opportunities. We are also limiting the number of prefects to 36 to focus on the quality rather than quantity, meaning we can include the prefects in the organisation of events.
We are also in the process of planning an extra-curricular fayre, to run in the next few weeks, where the pupils can come to stalls and get a taste of all of the great activities that run within the school.
This week we attended our first parent council meeting where we got the opportunity to introduce ourselves to some of your parents. It was really nice to attend the meeting and listen in to some of the parents' views. We can’t wait to join the next one.
We are very excited about some of the things we have planned so stay tuned for more opportunities for pupils :)
Pupil Voice
We are very proud of our Pupil Voice Council members from last year who presented at the three House Assemblies this week, discussing Pupil Voice and all the opportunities that pupils had last session within MGS. The Junior and Senior Pupil Voice Council are looking to recruit new members and the slides from the presentation, as well as the online application forms will be issued to all pupils by the end of this week. The deadline for completed applications is Friday 9th September. Council members are planning to visit S1 registration classes next week to offer support and answer any questions.
Celebrating Achievement
We would love to hear about the pupils at our school’s achievements over the course of the year so that we can recognise and celebrate these.
In order to do so, we have created a Google Form that pupils/parents/carers can fill in to let us know the details of these achievements. These could vary from a sporting achievement to volunteering- we want to hear them all!
Please use the QR code on the poster to take you to the form or click this link.
You can also find a link to the form via the school website.

Young Enterprise
The Business and Administration Department are looking for motivated S6 pupils who would be interested in taking part in this year's Young Enterprise Programme. Young Enterprise offers pupils the chance to gain a level 6 qualification, valuable entrepreneurial skills, UCAS points and looks great on a CV.
Register alone or with a group of friends and you will have the chance to: Develop new skills such as creativity, commerce, leadership, budgeting and marketing. Liaise with an external Business Advisor during brainstorming sessions, and pupils will also get to keep all profits generated and distribute them accordingly. National Trust Creative Writing
The National Trust is running a free creative writing and performance course for 16-19 year olds that runs on Fridays. The first session was August 26 but pupils can join from the second session. If a pupil is aged 15 and soon to turn 16, there’s no problem as long as they have consent from their parents/carers. There are two time slots available; the first 1:15-3:15 and the second 3:30-5:30.
