HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
Our House assemblies this week focused on all the good things there are all around us if we take time to look for them, and how important it is to do something every day that brings us, or other people, joy. I'm sure that we are all feeling joy today that next week is a holiday! It's been a quick and very busy term and it will be lovely to have a break before a new and even busier term starts.
With best wishes for a relaxing break, with hopefully less snow and storms, and more sunshine and snow drops!
Jodie Hannan

Thank you for your support of your young people as we head to the business end of the school year. The amount of work at home has increased since Christmas with weekly homework tasks for all N5, Higher and Advanced Higher classes. Please use the February break to recharge ready for the final push to the May exams. I would remind all parents that students have Red, Amber and Green topics to guide their revision.
From February break and until the May exams there will be lots of study support available and I thank my colleagues in the department for offering this time.

Powering Futures
Powering Futures is an SCQF level 6 course (Higher) aimed at developing real world skills and equipping learners for work or education after school. This year’s cohort had a visit from 2 of our industry mentors to receive feedback on their presentations so far. MGS is hosting the regional presentations for participating schools in the Lothian regions on 22nd March and 16 representatives from Industries will be here to give feedback to the groups. We are looking to recruit a group of Pupils for the 24/25 session soon. If you are interested in finding out more, see the poster below.

‘The Wrap Up, with Charlie & Eva’
Welcome to another edition of ‘The Wrap Up, with Charlie & Eva’, hope everyone has had a good week and is ready for the weekend!
Prom payments for S6 pupils have been extended to today to get your deposits in so you can come, so if you haven't paid the deposit already and plan to come then you better get to it quick! If no deposit is paid by then it will be assumed you aren’t coming and you won’t be able to attend. The current date for prom is Friday the 7th of June at the Skybar in Edinburgh, it will be a dry event and will take place between 7pm-1am.
A medic society is being started up at MGS, it will be a place for anyone who is thinking about applying to medical school can go to get advice, information about the process of applying, tips etc can be shared to make the experience easier and to give pupils a better chance at being prepared for and accepted into medicine courses.
Science week is coming up! Everyone is going to have a great chance to see and take part in some great activities this science week held by Mr Crawford and some helper pupils!
The school has recently gotten a new resource site called achieve that will be used in some classes starting next week, including course notes, quizzes, past papers for each subject etc, broken down by topic. Mrs Donnelly held a Google meet on Tuesday 6th of February to help pupils and parents learn how best to use the site, if you didn't manage to attend though there's still plenty of opportunity to learn to use this new resource!
Thank you for reading this week’s ‘The Wrap Up with Charlie and Eva’. We hope you’ve had a great week and we look forward to seeing you back on Monday!
