HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
Lots of Christmas jumper cheer in school on Friday, as well as lots of tired but happy faces after Thursday night’s wonderful Christmas concert. It was standing room only to hear our incredible ensembles, soloists, rock bands, orchestras and choirs from Primary 6 to S6.
This was sung beautifully by our Senior Choir on Thursday night:
I will leave it with you with best wishes for a wonderful weekend.

Travel and Tourism visit to Musselburgh Racecourse
Our National 5 Travel and Tourism class visited Musselburgh Racecourse on Tuesday. Although it was a bit wet, we still managed to have a tour of the grounds (taking the opportunity to shelter under the main stand). On the tour the Head of Operations explained how they operate and cater to the needs of visitors with different races throughout the year, which attract anywhere from 800 to 8,000 people. Pupils found out about various job roles and responsibilities as well as how to provide excellent customer service. We also had an informative talk from the Marketing Manager who outlined how the advertising and promotion happens: covering topics from website design to macro influencers! Pupils were enlightened as to all the work that goes on behind the scenes of this local tourist attraction in order for it to achieve, and maintain, a 5 star Visit Scotland rating! Thank you so much for showing us around!

‘The Wrap Up, with Charlie & Eva’
Welcome to another edition of ‘The Wrap Up, with Charlie & Eva’, we hope everyone has had a great week this week and have enjoyed the recent festivities!
Friday was the MGS Christmas jumper day! We had some great Christmas jumpers from both pupils and teachers, as well as lots of generous donations towards Unicef and Save the Children. We’d like to give a massive thank you to everyone who donated and took part today
S6s, the deadline to get your yearbook profile in is today so make sure you’re getting your yearbook quote, favourite song, celebrity birthday twin, favourite moment at MGS, and your photo submitted to make sure you get into the yearbook.
We had the MGS Christmas concert this week, and we’d like to congratulate everyone who took part in making it such a great night of music and performances! This included the P6s who usually play with the P7s of various schools who this year played with the senior wind band in their rendition of Rudolph the Red-nose reindeer as the P7s were at their P7 camps, as well as our MGS wind band, choirs, orchestra, some of our own amazing bands such as Og and Dirty Campers and even some brave individuals giving incredible performances. As it was our last Christmas concert we’d also like to say it’s been an absolute pleasure performing at them all these years and that we hope you all enjoyed them as much as we did!
The Advanced Higher Chemistry pupils went again to Heriot Watt university this week to complete their chemistry projects and had a brilliant time. We’d like to give a big thank you to both Heriot Watt for allowing the class to come along as well as Mr Jarvie for organising it and giving the Advanced Highers such a great opportunity!
The annual senior Christmas dance is on Tuesday 7-9pm! This is one of the most exciting events of the year so we’d encourage everyone to come along if you have the chance and have a great time. This year the theme is ‘masquerade’ as voted by the pupils so feel free to come along with a mask and to have a blast while Scottish country dancing the night away.
Thank you for reading this week’s ‘The Wrap Up with Charlie and Eva’. We hope you’ve had a good week and are gonna take this weekend as a chance to relax and get ready for Christmas! See you next week!
