France Trip 2026
Thank you to all pupils and parents who came to the parent-pupil information session about the trip to France in June 2026. It was great to feel that buzz of excitement about this excursion.
If you have not yet returned your sign-up sheet, please do so to either Mrs McElhaney in room C9 or Miss Dudley in room D3 as soon as possible to secure your place.
Youth Philanthropic Initiative
It was a pleasure to be part of the judging panel at today’s YPI (Youth Philanthropic Initiative) competition in which 9 groups of new S5 pupils presented on why their chosen charity should be awarded a £3,000 grant.
The standard of presentations was very high and it was clear to see how much time and effort all pupils had invested in this project.
However….there can only be 1 winner….so congratulations to Thea, Lois and Aneu for being the winning team and securing the cheque for Teens + in Musselburgh!
MGS ATHLETICS TEAM:
Our MGS Athletics team had a great day at the East Lothian Secondary Schools County Games at Meadowmill. We had great conditions and even greater performances! A big thank you to Henderson's- Eat Better Live Better, for kitting the team out. Once again, we’d like to thank our wonderful teachers for supporting the students on the day.
MGS FOOTBALL AND ACTIVE SCHOOL CLUBS:
Our now S2's made the most of the nice weather this afternoon with coach Meldrum. A big thank you to the boys for participating in her coaching assessment for college. They worked on a range of attacking and defensive drills along with a game at the end.
We are coming to the end of our school football training but please keep your eye out on here and our Facebook page for when you can sign your child up. We will be looking to enter U13, U14, U15 and girls teams into school leagues after the summer holidays. If you have any questions please email Maria Lyle: mlyle@elcschool.org.uk
SCHOOL KIT NEEDING RETURNED:
If your child has any of the following kit, please can you make sure they return it to either the Active Schools office or the PE Department by Monday 23rd June:
Blue MGS x Henderson's Athletics T-Shirts
MGS Football kit
MGS hockey top
MGS Basketball kit
The school kit is expensive and used across different year stages so it’s really important we get this back. If there are any issues, please contact mlyle@elcschool.org.uk
