HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
What a brilliant way to end the term! Last night’s ‘Mussy does Strictly’ was full of laughter, sparkle and entertainment. A huge thankyou to everyone who helped make it happen, from front of house staff and pupils to all those on backstage operations. Congratulations to our teacher couples and S6 dancers for a fabulous show- another night that celebrated the strength and joy of our school community.
Whatever you are doing over the February holidays, I hope all pupils, families and staff have a lovely break.
We teachers will be switching off alarm clocks and laptops after a very busy few weeks since we returned from the Christmas holiday, and I would like to publicly thank all my colleagues for their unstinting hard work for our young people this term.
With best wishes.
Jodie Hannan

Staffing
I am delighted to let you know that I have appointed a Teacher of CDT who will take up post with us on Monday 17 April. We hope to be able to allocate some periods of CDT to S1 and S2 once Senior Phase classes go on study leave from 24 April and I will keep you informed of these plans.
Another national advert for a full time permanent CDT teacher to commence at Easter goes live next week.
Most unfortunately, I have not been able to recruit a full time Teacher of Mathematics so from Tuesday 21 February we will be covering a number of classes internally with Maths work but without a specialist Maths teacher. This post is being re-advertised.
Kayla and Rory's Weekly Rundown
Hi and welcome back to Kayla and Rory's Weekly Rundown. We hope everyone has enjoyed their last week of school before the holidays!
It was great to see so many people at MGS Strictly on Thursday night. A massive congratulations to Mr Lee and Ms Scott, featuring choreography by Hannah Bonthron, and, our very own, Orla Thomson!
It's also been an exciting week for our S6s who received their leavers hoodies ahead of Dalguise, which will be the weekend after the February break.
We hope everyone enjoys their February break, and if you are a senior who is using the time to revise, remember to take some time to do something fun!
House Points
Strictly Come Dancing
Last night saw the highly anticipated return of Strictly MGS! After fierce competition Miss Scott and Mr Lee won the vote to be your 2023 Strictly MGS Champions!
The total money raised for the 3 House charities (Brain Tumour Charity, MS Society, Cancer Research UK) was £1191.41.
Thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets and donated on the night. Thank you again to all our staff and pupils who made this event possible.
And remember: “Keeeeep dancing!”
S2 Dynamic Earth Trip
As part of their Geography course, ALL S2 pupils have the opportunity to visit Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on Thursday 2nd March (2M2, 2C3, 2G1, 2G3) and Tuesday 28th March (2M3, 2C1, 2C2, 2M1 and 2G2).
This is an exciting attraction, which explores the history of the earth, its formation and its many amazing landscapes. S2 are currently studying ‘The Restless Earth’ and this field trip will give them a chance to learn more about the powerful process of plate tectonics. We will also be taking part in a ‘Natural Disasters’ workshop, led by Dynamic Earth Education Officers.
Pupils have been given a letter and permission form in class which they need to return by Friday 24th February.
If you have any questions please speak to or email Mrs Orsi.
