An S5-6 Curriculum evening on Thursday 20th January 2022 the audio link to the presentation can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/jxcu24WqFv8
Within this presentation there are details about the number of subjects choices to be made. Please remember that during the coursing process not all pupils will be able to get their first choices of subjects and therefore, reserves must be valid choices. The coursing meetings with Guidance Teachers will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd February 2022. These will be held online, with the pupil attending in school with their Guidance Teacher.
Scottish Languages Employability Award
The Modern Languages department is delighted to announce that we have received the Bronze Scottish Languages Employability Award for our S3 Life with Languages careers event back in December. The award was presented to us by Scotland's National Centre for Languages(SCILT) and was deemed an outstanding project. The project involved a 'Meet the Expert' event where pupils met with our partner organisations; The Scottish Government, The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, The Royal Navy, The Balmoral Hotel and an interpreter for Valencia Football Club. Pupils then completed a range of tasks in French, German and Spanish that gave them an insight into the day to day life of each job, from translating match reports to creating and translating menus for the Balmoral Hotel. A huge well done to all of S3 who participated in this project, as SCILT were very impressed by the quality of work created. This was a fantastic event and we are really proud of all pupils as they put their language skills into practice and explored the career opportunities available to them with languages! Miss S. Coats
Football and Refereeing
I am delighted to share some good news regarding our 11 students who are completing their professional development award in football refereeing this year. This week they all successfully passed their Laws of the Game exam. I just want to say a huge well done to all of them and hopefully this will be the start of a successful career in refereeing for them in the future.
I also want to say well done to our S2 football team who won their first league match this week. The boys showed great determination, to come back from losing at half time, to win the game 5-1. They were all buzzing after the full time whistle and I could not be prouder of them.
Thanks, Mr Ryan Lee
S6 Leavers' Hoodies
All pupils in S6 who wish to purchase a Leavers' Hoodie should pay online on ParentPay by Friday, 25 February 2022. They cost £21 each.
Many thanks, S Jordan

Free Bus Travel for Under 22s - National Entitlement Card (NEC)
MGS Office staff are able to verify pupil details for new NEC cards e.g. name, address. A recent photo is required to accompany the form, therefore once verified, the form will then be handed back to the pupil to take to a local library. The library will be able to take a photo for the card and process the application. Many thanks.
Medical - HPV Vaccinations
HPV Vaccination consent forms were distributed to pupils on Thursday 10th Feb for upcoming vaccinations. This applies to the following pupils:
S1 - all pupils
S2 and S3 - catch up for all pupils who didn’t receive a consent form last year
S4-6 - catch up for girls who didn’t receive a consent form last year
Please return the completed consent forms as soon as possible on pupils’ return to school after the February break to Mrs Harvey.
Thank you, Mrs Harvey
PE Uniforms
The PE department would like to remind all pupils and parents/carers that it is school policy that pupils come to school in school uniform and get changed into PE kit for PE lessons.
This is to ensure that pupil hygiene is maintained, and that pupil safety during lessons is a priority.
PE kit should be:
a change of t-shirt/polo shirt/sweatshirt
a change of joggers/leggings/shorts
appropriate flat soled trainers
all jewellery should be removed
long hair should be tied back
The PE dept would like to thank you for your continued support with this issue.
Thank you, Mr MacDonald
Em & Nic's Not-So-Secret Diary
Happy holidays everyone!
The first term of 2022 has come to an end. It's a bittersweet feeling for us all in six year; we're relieved to have a holiday but we're also getting closer to leaving and will be returning to our final term after this. Which is so crazy! However we are looking forward to our much-anticipated holiday and unwinding for a week.
Our senior students were doing home learning at the start of this week which was unusual for us because we haven’t done it since our previous lockdown at the start of 2021. However it was a good time for most of us to catch up on any missed assignments and notes that will help us revise for our upcoming exams in April and May.
SQA also announced last week that senior students will be given a study guide to help us with what we should be revising during our study leave. It is crucial to get started as soon as possible in order to perform at your best, therefore we encourage getting started sooner rather than later!
We hope that choosing courses is an exciting time for all of our juniors and as always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us. We are more than happy to support you and provide advice based on subjects we have previously studied.
Just another little reminder to say if you have not already done so please go download our school app as it is now LIVE on the app stores to keep up with the latest news in and around school.
Again as always thank you to all students for abiding by the guidelines and continuing to wear our face coverings throughout the building and applying hand sanitizer at the appropriate times. We really appreciate you going to these lengths to not only keep ourselves safe but also our staff and families at home too.
Have a lovely holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back after the break!
