HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
It was a pleasure to hold the first in person House Assemblies for Caird, Moray and Grange in the Hall this week: so much better than virtual assemblies! The focus this week was upon strengthening our House identity and ethos and promoting healthy competition with inter House competitions and merits. Our Head Pupils, Emma and Nicole, did a great job presenting this: we know it’s not easy to stand up and speak in front of peers.
Term is speeding up again as we head towards the Easter holidays and study leave for our Senior Phase students. The Easter revision programme has been published, and Immersion classes are planned for each course before the SQA exams to support pupils’ preparation and revision. We hope that the revision packs are proving useful too.
It’s lovely to see more of the sun each day, and I hope it shines for us all this weekend.
Wallyford Learning Campus
There will be communications from ELC to the Musselburgh community next week.
Parent Portal
ELC are in the process of launching Parent Portal across all schools. This is a one stop online platform for parents to access their child’s timetable, attendance and school reports as well as topping up cashless catering cards. More details will follow as we approach our roll out date after the Easter Holidays. We will still continue with communications via the school app and the Groupcall texting service.

Study Support for SQA Examinations
A range of supports are in place to help MGS students in preparation for SQA examinations. Assemblies took place today for S4-6 to inform them of the requirements of SQA examinations and to remind them of where they can access support with revision. Our Immersion Programmes are sessions run to support students with revision in school in the days prior to examinations. These are in addition to the ongoing Study Support sessions running in school and our Easter Revision Programme. The dates and times for all of these sessions can be accessed by clicking on the buttons below.

Special Sports Mention!
Rosie Livingstone (S5) after joining Hibernian Women's senior squad this season was also selected for Scotland's National Team WU17 Training camp. Successfully securing herself a place in the squad. This month Rosie only went and got her first cap for Scotland and scored a goal against North Macedonia. We are absolutely delighted for Rosie and extremely proud of all that she has achieved!! Well done Rosie!!!

Em & Nic's Not So Secret Diary
Happy Friday everyone! What a busy week it has been. This week has been extremely busy, as the school began the week by welcoming all students back into the hall for assemblies. It was a great moment for both of us to lead the first assembly back in school after the pandemic and we look forward to supporting the SLT in future assemblies.
We also wanted to remind you that as we near the end of the school year, the 8th of April will be our last day. We will continue to publish our newsletter for the next two weeks but in the upcoming weeks we will begin to incorporate some memories and photos from our time at school.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold a large event to commemorate our last day of school but we will do our best to make the greatest possible finish to our school year. We're working hard to make sure that everyone gets the day they deserve and we'll make the most of the day.
Due to COVID the school is unable to host a prom for S6 so we have organised one ourselves. We are looking for 5 parent volunteers to assist with the prom so that it can take place. You will receive a three-course meal and a welcome drink at no cost. It will take place on Thursday 9th June 2022 from 7pm. Please get in touch with us if you are interested in helping out. mmccrorie@edubuzz.org
Just another little reminder to say if you have not already done so please go download our school app as it is now LIVE on the app stores to keep up with the latest news in and around school.
Again as always thank you to all students for abiding by the guidelines and continuing to wear our face coverings throughout the building and applying hand sanitizer at the appropriate times. We really appreciate you going to these lengths to not only keep ourselves safe but also our staff and families at home too.
See you all next week!
Em & Nic
