HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
We welcomed our new S1 pupils to school today for the first of their three transition days and spirits were high!
There was also great excitement amongst the S2 and S3 pupils at their Summer Dance last night- huge thanks to the staff who organised and supervised the event.
The year has flown by and it’s incredible to be coming into the last two weeks of term before the summer holidays. Lots still to be done though before we shut down the laptops and turn off the alarm!
Have a great weekend.
Jodie Hannan

Musselburgh Learns
As part of our ongoing evaluation of the learning and teaching experience in school, a review team visited Modern Languages this week. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect upon what we are doing well and what we can improve upon, which is all part of our professional learning and development.
The review team visited over 35 classes ranging from S2, National 4 and 5, Higher and Advanced Higher across all the languages we offer, which, with French, Italian, German and Spanish, is one of the most diverse languages faculties in Scotland.
The team included a range of perspectives from me, Mrs Watson, DHT, Mrs Kivlichan, CL Science, Ms Bloomfield, History Teacher, Ms Breslin, CL Modern Languages at North Berwick High School, and Mrs Glen, Senior Education Officer of Modern Languages at Education Scotland.
We also held focus groups for BGE and Senior Phase pupils to add their views on what the faculty does well and what could be done differently to be even better. It was a pleasure to hear all pupils speak so highly about the faculty and I am looking forward to sharing this feedback with the Modern Languages staff.
Summer Jam
Our Music Department are excited to announce the MGS Summer Jam on Wednesday 26th June, 7pm. Tickets available via SchoolPay, for £1.

Messages from Ms Harvey - School Welfare Assistant
All pupils with asthma should carry their inhalers at all times - thank you
Lost Property - any items remaining in lost property will be recycled just before the summer break, so please remind your young person to come along to the medical room if they think they have lost something in school.
School Trips
Muirfield Riding Therapy
Some of our pupils have been learning to ride horses over the last 8 weeks. We want to wish them luck in their assessment next week. They have worked so hard and have now all mastered the art of trotting and horse care.
S3 Engineering Science Trip
Some of our S3 Engineering Science pupils enjoyed a trip to the National Museum this week with a focus on Engineering in the world around them. Well done to Matao Erasmus, Ewan Myles, Nathan Wilson & Daniella Belcheva for being crowned Engineering Scavenger Hunt winners 2024. Equally, Ben Russell for being awarded reaction game champion. All pupils who attended the trip were a credit to the school for their engagement and consideration of others in a public space.

Inclusion Space - message from Mrs. McLean
I would like to say a huge thank you the artists in the Inclusion space for all their hard work creating some art work for my daughter who was in the Prestonpans Gala last weekend. Over the past 8 weeks, 4 of our young people and Mr Bissett have been working hard on creating a Gala display that would not only wow the judge’s and the Prestonpans community but also impress 6 year old Ellis who had high expectations. I think everyone will agree that they did a marvellous job!
