About Musselburgh Grammar School

Musselburgh Grammar School is a non-denominational and mixed gender school. It serves the town of Musselburgh, as well as Whitecraig village. At the end of Primary 7, pupils come to us from Campie Primary School, Musselburgh Burgh Primary School, Stoneyhill Primary School, Whitecraig Primary School and Loretto RC Primary School.

The roll is currently at 996. Musselburgh Grammar School has young people living in all SIMD (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation) and 15.7% of our young people access Free School Meal entitlement. The staffing complement for the school is 97 FTE, which includes all teaching and support staff as well as an allocation of probationers.

The Senior Leadership Team consists of the Headteacher, Jodie Hannan, Business Manager, and three Depute Headteachers, each with a strategic remit linked to How Good is Our School 4.

Our Extended Leadership Team (ELT) also consists of eight faculty Curriculum Leaders (CL), one Curriculum Leader for Support for Learning, a Curriculum Leader Nurture and Inclusion and four Pupil Support Leaders (PSL). We also have a PT 1 Equity, temporarily funded by East Lothian Council’s Strategic Equity Fund, whose work is focused on closing the gap between Quintile 1 and Quintile 5.

The Parent Council and Pupil Voice are both very active and supportive of the school; each council taking active roles in our whole school improvement agenda.
