Learning about Hygiene and Safety in the kitchen and textiles room. We look at the Eatwell Guide and Dietary Goals. How to design and create baked goods. How to make the planet more sustainable. Creating textile items in the way of Cushions and Phone Cases.
Learning about the cookery skills, processes and techniques used to create foods. Learning about Takeaways and how to create Fakeaways. Looking at sustainability within food and how we can be more sustainable. Dishes you will cook include: Jammy treats, Chicken Curry, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lemon Drizzle Cake, Gingerbread Houses and many more!
We look at the following units: Understanding and using ingredients, Cookery processes and techniques and Organisational skills for cooking. This course is based on practical cookery with there being a large focus on cookery skills, but also the theory aspect of food (including completing written work). You will cook every week. We create dishes like: Mandarin Gateau, Lasagne, White Chocolate Cheesecake and Quiche to name only a few!
