WHY CHOOSE SPORT AND RECREATION?
Sport and Recreation is a Skills for Work course that covers the main practical activities involved in carrying out a support role in a sports and recreation environment, as well as health and safety legislation. Pupils will gain relevant experience, skills for learning life and work that will help them towards gaining employment. Expectations: Pupils selecting this course should have a keen interest in sport and a desire to pursue a degree or career in sport. Pupils have to complete work placements and should expect to work with the Musselburgh community.

SPORT & RECREATION: PATHWAYS
Assist with a Component of Activity Sessions: Plan, deliver and evaluate coaching of younger pupils - this will often be done at Musselburgh primary schools.
Employment Opportunities in the Sport & Recreation Industry: Learn about how to make themselves more employable through finding career pathways and developing interview skills and CVs.
Assist with Fitness Programming: Organise and develop a physical training plan for others.
Assist with Daily Centre Duties: Experience real work environments through placements.
This course is completed over one year. To achieve the full course award at National 5 pupils must pass all 4 units. Pupils can be assessed through observation, conversation or portfolio.
