SCQF Ambassadors

WHAT IS THE SCQF SCHOOL AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME?

The SCQF School Ambassador programme offers schools the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of the SCQF and the wider ways in which it supports learners such as recognising wider achievement, developing Senior Phase learning pathways in line with the Developing the Young Workforce strategy and giving equality between vocational and academic qualifications.

WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH OUR SCHOOL?

As well as providing a framework for Scotland’s qualifications, the SCQF provides a portal for pupils, parents and teachers to investigate additional and alternative qualifications which can be delivered as part of the curriculum.  At Musselburgh Grammar, as in many other Secondary Schools across Scotland, we’re working to make our curriculum more flexible and relevant for today’s learners, so that they are well equipped to go out in to the 21st Century world of further education and employment armed with the skills and abilities needed.  The SCQF unlocks access to a huge array of new courses, qualifications and experiences for our young people, and gives schools the opportunity to design a curriculum that is truly learner centred. We want to be able to offer all our pupils a wider range of courses to suit their varied needs and interests.

MEET OUR AMBASSADORS

Our Ambassadors are pupils who have taken or currently take subjects on offer at MGS which are not classed as "Traditional" subjects. From Beekeeping to Barista or Retailing to Refereeing they have all had first hand experience of our modern curriculum to enhance their learning experiences.

Ambassadors all take a role in promoting the SCQF courses on offer and the benefits of them to parents/carers, pupils, staff and the wider community.

SCQF COURSES @ MGS

examined element. These courses include, but

are not limited to:
