Learners can experience Levels 1-4 and study topics covering Reading, Writing, Talking and Listening such as: Novels, Poetry, Plays; Analysing Media and Still Images; Persuasive Language and Writing; Creative Writing; Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Learners progressing to N3 can expect to study areas such as: key language skills, short stories, analysing film trailers, Clean Energy Project.
Learners progressing to N4 can expect to study areas such as: Added Value Unit, group discussions, independent writing, analysing film trailers, short stories.
Learners progressing to N5 will learn and demonstrate skills in areas such as: Textual Analysis (poetry, play or novel), Critical Writing (film, novel, play or poetry), Writing Folio (creative or discursive), Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation (RUAE).
NATIONAL 5 MEDIA: The National 5 Media course offers candidates opportunities to develop and extend a wide range of skills including communication, independent learning, critical literacy, personal and interpersonal working, and creative thinking.
HIGHER MEDIA: This course enables candidates to analyse and create media content and to think critically about the media and its role in everyday life. They develop an appreciation of media content in a cultural context, and in the context of the media industry. Through analysing and creating media content, candidates develop skills that enable them to engage more fully in society and in learning.
Learners who have demonstrated the appropriate level of skill at N5 will progress to Higher. Here they will build on existing skills in: Textual Analysis, Critical Writing, Writing Folio, and Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation (RUAE) through the study of more complex and challenging texts.
