HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend, and how nice to have another so quickly afterwards!
SQA exams are still going very smoothly in school. I know how stressful exam time is for parents as well as the young people themselves, and that you’ll all be counting down the days until it’s over!
It’s business as usual for S1-3 pupils in school, and there’s lots going in the last few weeks before the timetable changes on 5 June.
Hoping the sun shines for us all on this long weekend.

I’m going to leave the survey open until Wednesday 10 May 2023 if you’ve not yet had the chance to share your views. You can click here to access the survey.
Some really useful information has come from it already and we very much value your feedback.

Well done to all learners who have been completing exams. Week 2 has gone very well, with the invigilation team complimenting our MGS candidates on their polite and purposeful approach.
A reminder that all exam candidates should attend in full school uniform and should not bring devices such as phones to their exam.
National 3 and 4 learners please note that your unit deadline is fast approaching. All passes must be attained by 15th May in order for us to process passes to meet the SQA deadline of 19th May for August certification. It has been great to see many of you in school this week working with staff.
Upcoming Deadlines:
15th May - unit completion for N3/4 courses
10th May (at the very latest) - submission of AH English Portfolio: Writing and AH Geography Project–folio
23 May - submission of Higher Photography Project

S3 Bronze DofE
Our S3 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group completed their training expedition this week. 18 pupils journeyed along the John Muir Way from Torness to Traprain Law, camping at Belhaven Bay. Working in teams, pupils plan their two day route, carry all their equipment, plan and cook their meals on trangia stoves and camp overnight. We walked over 50k steps so it’s safe to say there were some sore feet and shoulders! The expedition is the culmination of months of preparation and training. We are very proud of our amazing pupils who showed excellent team work, resilience, motivation and determination throughout the expedition. Pupils will now have an opportunity to reflect on their practice before doing the final planning for their assessed expedition in two weeks time!
A huge thank you to our staff volunteers Ms Ferguson, Mr Brown, and Mr Mells for their assistance, as well as ELC Outdoor Learning for providing equipment.
