HEAD TEACHER'S NEWSLETTER
SQA exams and immersion classes continue smoothly, as does the usual timetable for all S1 -S3 pupils for the last 3 weeks of May.
It has been lovely to see our P7s face to face in school for the first of their transition visits this week as they met their classmates from other primaries and school staff for the first time. We’re looking forward to seeing them back next week where they will meet some of their class teachers. Huge thanks to our brilliant S3 buddies who have welcomed and chaperoned them from class to class with great care and enthusiasm.
Happy weekend everyone.

Parent Council
Our next Parent Council is Monday 9th May, 7-9pm. The meeting can be joined using this link:
School Uniform
While the standard of uniform is generally good it is slipping in certain areas and while I am not asking families to purchase all new uniform at this stage in the school year, I do ask that for reasons of school security, our dress code is black and white only, and a school tie and shirt should be visible on all pupils.
Please also note that crop tops, bra tops and belly tops are not appropriate to wear to school for any reason- all tops should cover the torso completely, and parents may be contacted during the school day to bring appropriate tops into school if necessary. Leggings should only be worn with a skirt over them. Uniform must be worn to all immersion classes and exams too for the same security reasons.
Reminder: Immersion Programme for SQA Examinations
A range of supports are in place to help MGS students in preparation for SQA examinations. Our Immersion Programmes are sessions run to support students with revision in school in the days prior to examinations. The dates and times for all of these sessions can be accessed by clicking on the buttons below.
Parent and carer views sought: Promoting positive relationships and behaviour
This year we are reviewing our policy to support positive relationships and behaviour within Musselburgh Grammar School. Parent and carer feedback is vital and will be considered alongside pupil and staff views in shaping our new policy.
There are 11 multiple choice questions and two open ended questions. The survey will close on Friday 20th May. Click on the link to access: https://forms.gle/vk3oMtfTDkphhSCQ6
All responses will be confidential, unless you chose to leave your details. There is the opportunity to provide your name at the end should you wish or if you’d be willing to take part in a future focus group to discuss.
All responses are warmly received.
Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)
We are halfway through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative with our S3's and all is going well so far. Well done to all the students who have made contact with their charities by phone or email and are following this initial contact up with a Zoom meeting or even visiting the charities in person. In class, the S3's are beginning to put all the information together in a final show piece with some groups being very creative! We are also encouraging students to work on this outwith class time.
Keep up the excellent work, only 2 lessons to go until the semi-finals!
