This hilt style is unique to the manufacturer "Boyle Gamble and MacFee" and was produced during the US Civil War for the confederacy. The solid brass hilt has a smooth finish with wrap around ribs and a strong bird's beak pommel with a unique vertical press stud spring on the right side. There is a forward swept finial on top of the muzzle ring and the lower quillion is swept to the rear with a small disk finial.
