US Brass Hilted Sword Bayonets

The short guide slot appears to be a late war introduction made common by the Remington Model 1862 Rifle bayonet but several rarer bayonets can also be found with the short guide bar slot.  It is believed that this shortened guide bar allowed a socket bayonet to fit the rifle as well.
