Hello friends, Welcome to the Mineral Repository at the department of geology, Shivaji science college, Nagpur. I am Fluorite, my name originates from the Latin word "fluere" meaning "to flow" a nod to my ability to melt easily and be used as a flux in iron smelting. Beyond my vibrant appearance, I am known for my fluorescence under ultraviolet light, which can create a stunning display of colors. My uses are as diverse as my colors. Industries rely on me for my properties in optics, electronics, and metallurgy. In optics, I am used in lenses, prisms, and windows due to my ability to transmit light. In electronics, I am a key component in creating lenses for cameras, telescopes, and microscopes. Metallurgically, I aid in the production of steel and aluminum, serving as a flux to lower the melting point of raw materials. The state of Rajasthan is known for its deposits of Fluorite, particularly in the districts of Ajmer and Udaipur. Here, mining activities uncover my colorful crystals. The state of Maharashtra is another region where I can be found In the districts of Nashik and Pune. Thank you for visiting.
