Hello friends! Welcome to the Fossil Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur. I am a genus of fossil plants, Vertebraria, and I come from the Glossopteridales order. I am the stems or rhizomes of Glossopteris. The stems are in the form of flattened, single, or branched rocks, and are sometimes bearing slender branches. They are characterized by two or three series of longitudinal grooves or ridges, from which lateral grooves are given off at right angles. In my transverse section, the case appears to be divided into a number of wedge-shaped segments radiating from a common center. My geological time range is from the Permian to the Carboniferous. Right now, I am extinct, but my fossils are found in the lower Gondwana strata. Thank you for visiting.
