Hello friends, Welcome to the Rock Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur.
I am serpentine marble, a metamorphic rock with a unique composition and appearance. My primary mineral is serpentine, which gives me my characteristic green color and often creates beautiful patterns and textures within me. I may also contain other minerals such as calcite, dolomite, and graphite, adding to my visual appeal. You can often find me in regions where tectonic activity has brought ultramafic rocks to the Earth's surface. These areas typically include mountain ranges, oceanic crusts, and regions near subduction zones.
As a building material, I am prized for my unique appearance and durability. Architects and designers often use me for countertops, flooring, and decorative purposes due to my attractive green color and the interesting patterns that form as a result of my mineral composition.
Thank you for visiting.
