26 - Gondite

Hello friends, Welcome to the Rock Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur.

I am Gondite , a manganese bearing high grade metamorphic rock. I'm composed mostly of quartz, spessartite, rhodonite and small percentage of apatite. I am formed by plutonic metamorphism of sediments rich in manganese oxides. I scarcely exhibit good schistosity and the minerals do not have any linear arrangement. I am often found inter-banded with braunite, rhodonite and other manganese silicates. I often exhibit small scale folds. Thank you for visiting.
