Hello friends, Welcome to the Rock Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur. I am Anorthosite, an Acidic hypabyssal igneous rock having coarse grained texture. I am formed as a result of Magmatic differentiation of Plagioclase. I contains 90% Plagioclase feldspar and quartz, pyroxene, illiminite, biotite mica, olivine. In India I am found in granulitic terrain of Kerala, Salem district of Tamil Nadu, regions of Eastern ghats, etc. I am mainly used in Automobile and marine industries, paint, coatings and insulation materials, windmills and turbine blades, aerospace and defense sector etc. Thank you for visiting.
