31 - Hornblende Schist

English

Hello friends, Welcome to the  Rock  Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur.

I am hornblende schist, a metamorphic rock that has undergone significant changes under high pressure and temperature conditions. My mineral composition primarily consists of hornblende, which gives me my distinctive dark green to black color. I also contain other minerals such as quartz, feldspar, and mica. You can often find me in regions with a history of mountain-building events, such as along the boundaries of tectonic plates or in areas with active geological processes. I am commonly used in construction and as a decorative stone due to my durability and attractive appearance.

Thank you for visiting.
