Hello friends, Welcome to the Mineral Repository at the Department of Geology, Shivaji Science College, Nagpur.

I am Talc, a mineral celebrated for my softness, smoothness, and diverse applications in various industries. Unlike many other minerals, I'm so soft that you can easily scratch me with your fingernail. This unique characteristic makes me stand out in the mineral kingdom.

Geologically, I am commonly found in metamorphic rocks, especially those rich in magnesium and silica. You'll often discover me in rocks like soapstone and serpentinite, where I form as a result of the alteration of other minerals.

In industry, my primary application is in the manufacturing of talcum powder and other personal care products. My softness and ability to absorb moisture make me ideal for keeping skin dry and preventing friction. Additionally, I find use as a lubricant in various processes, including the production of plastic, rubber, and ceramics.
