Peter Delaney

Born on March 23, 1937, Peter James Delaney lived at Alveston Pastures, Stratford-on-Avon and served his apprenticeship with Jeremy Tree.

He then joined trainer Michael Marsh (of dual Whitbread winner Larbawn fame) who trained near Stratford-upon-Avon and rode a total of five winners for him, one in 1959-60, one in 1960-61 and three in 1962-63.

Peter became a member of the racecourse ground staff at Stratford and worked there for 25 years until his retirement in 2002. On April 20 that year, the 'Peter Delaney Lifetime in Racing Handicap Chase' was run at Stratford in recognition of his contribution to the sport. Peter now lives in retirement in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire.
