Anthony Esler

Anthony Radcliffe Esler, born on August 2, 1943, served a 3 and a half year apprenticeship with Paddy Sleator in Ireland.

Anthony rode his first winner on October 25, 1964, in Hanover, Germany.

The most winners he rode in a season was five in 1976.

His best memory was of winning the Richmond-Brissac Trophy at Goodwood on Mandalus by a short head (September 16, 1978). Despite this, he named Swell Fellow as the best he rode.

He became Jeremy Hindley's assistant at Newmarket.

Anthony went on to become the Honorary Treasurer of Amateur Riders Association before becoming the first director of Delta Bloodstock Management Ltd (now dissolved).
