Robert Drysdale

Irish jockey and trainer Robert Drysdale died at Downpatrick County Infirmary on Tuesday 16 February 1897 from the effects of a kick from a horse on Friday 12 February.

Robert was schooling a young horse at Ballywarren for Mr Horatio Croskery when the animal became unmanageable.

Dismounted, he called for help and began to whip the horse, which struck out and kicked him in the forehead.
