Jacques Doyasbère was among France’s top jockeys during the 1940s and ’50s when his big race wins included the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe four times, the Prix du Jockey Club twice, Poule d’Essai des Pouliches three times, Prix Royal Oak (French St Leger) twice and, in England, Epsom’s Coronation Cup and the Ascot Gold Cup.  

Jacques Robert Doyasbère was born on December 26, 1919, in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Val-de-Marne. He rode for prominent owners Marcel Boussac and François Dupré. During his career, he won virtually every important race in France more than once.  

After more than 25 years as a jockey, he announced his decision to retire in March 1962 and become a trainer.

Jacques Doyasbère died in Paris on November 3, 1969, aged 49.
