We know this was said in the staff meeting but we truly appreciate your response to the student safety incidences this week. The faith and trust you placed in us and the understanding demonstrated by giving us space to do what we needed to is a testament to the strength of Team Kingsley. We hope you all have a relaxing long weekend!
Elisa, Sylvester, Dennis & Cory
Thank you all for your attendance at this morning's faculty meeting. As was discussed, we will be starting official school wide use of infraction trackers on Tuesday, September 6th. In addition, CICO will be starting soon for students. Here is today's presentation for your review as needed.
Also, in response to the student safety incidents this week, administration will be sending out information for staff to share with students in advisory regarding "See Something, Say Something" as well as what is inappropriate to bring to school. We hope these resources will help our students make better decisions.
September is pretty loaded with district required assessments so we gather baseline data to make sure we are identifying students' needs and get them the proper interventions. Here's what that assessment calendar for KJHS currently looks like:
8/29 - 9/9: aMath/aReading testing window
9/16: Deadline for teams to hold aMath/aReading makeup sessions
9/20: aMath/aReading makeup session proctored by guidance
9/23: All aMath/aReading makeups should be completed
9/23: District writing assessment
9/26: mySAEBERS completed during advsiory
The Unit 5 Employee Benefit Portal has changed to Employee Navigator. Here is are the instructions as to how to set up your account.
Tuesday, September 6: T-shirt Tuesday (Theme: Kindness)
Thursday, September 15: Teacher Twin Day
The PNC First Grant program provides teachers the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $750 to assist in the implementation of innovative and creative classroom projects that otherwise would not occur due to a lack of funding. Teachers are able to apply throughout the summer. The application link below is live and will close Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 11:59 pm.
If you are interested in hosting a student teacher Spring 2023, please complete this form.
Please join us in welcoming Shayden Graves-Locker to our KJHS staff. She is serving as a lunchroom supervisor for all 3 lunch periods.
Just a reminder that teachers are expected to take attendance every hour they have students on a roster. Administration will be following up with teachers who are struggling with this to help problem solve.
Please review the COVID Exclusion Protocol as well as COVID policies on the KJHS Staff Dashboard. Here are the big take-aways...
Any staff or student who has tested positive for COVID-19 must stay home from school, inform the school, and wait to hear further instructions from the school.
Any staff or student who has been in close contact to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 is recommended to mask for 10 days and test on Day 5 (sooner if symptomatic).
Board Game Club has been added to our list of Registered Student Organizations. It meets Fridays from 3:45 - 5:00 in Mr. Oates' room (Room 512). Please share this information with any interested students.
Please complete the "KJHS Staff Team Interest Survey" if you are interested in serving on any of the school-wide staff teams discussed during institute last week (School Growth Team, Wellness Team, CORE Team, or K Cart Support Team). If you are interested on serving on PBIS Tier 1 in any capacity (data team, instructional team, or celebrations team), please contact Janele Sebeny. If you are interested in serving on the social committee, please contact Anita Holland.
School service is not required but is a great way to interact with KJHS colleagues that you may not normally get to see and have a voice in what happens here at KJ. As a bonus, serving on one or more of these school teams can provide quality evidence for components 4d, 4e, and 4f of the Danielson Framework. Please complete the survey by Friday, September 2. Elisa will contact interested staff after Labor Day to set up meetings for the year.
The September Family Kingsley Connection will go out this weekend. I will send out the link when it is published.
If you are holding class other than in your assigned room on a particular day, please call or email Barb/Kim/Val to let them know so we can track down students as needed. Also, if you are wanting to reserve a space for your class or after school activity (besides your room), please complete the Kingsley Building Use Request form. If you want to use PE indoor or outdoor spaces and/or equipment during the school day, please use the Gym & Outdoor Space Use form.
Amber O'Day has a collaborative colleague program to work with teachers who are interested in integrating technology into their curriculum. She will work with you on achieving the goals which you have setup for yourselves. She will be setting up appointments after Labor Day. If you are interested, please fill out this form.
We just want to draw your attention to a few forms that have been added the "Students" Section of the KJHS Staff Dashboard.
22-23 No Photo List: Please check this for students in your class whose image cannot be used in school virtual or paper publications.
22-23 No Field Trip List: Please note if you have any students who cannot go on field trips.
Counselor Appointment Form: Please have students use this form to make an appointment with their guidance counselor.
Please be sure to archive Google Classrooms you are not using so they disappear for former students. Once you have done so, please go into Archive and delete all the classes you don't need anymore. Here's a video on how to do this.
