We cannot thank you all enough for an amazing start to the school year! It has truly been a team effort and we are so proud of the work you all have done to set a great tone and atmosphere this week. High expectations and consistency are key and you have done a great job in both areas! Thank you, also, for all of the positive feedback and kind words you have shared with the admin team. It has been such an encouragement to us and kept our spirits high. So, at the end of the week 1, we think that our opening institute motto really is holding true - we are better together! Go Team Kingsley!

School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, August 24th during students' PE classes. Special thanks to Danny Tanner for arranging the logistics of this day and to the PE department for assisting with the process!
FastBridge testing window for KJHS is 8/29 - 9/9. Please mark your team's testing dates and class periods on the 22-23 FastBridge Testing Sign Up sheet. Makeup dates will be added to that document soon.
A few follow up notes before heading into testing.
There is an Illuminate Cheat Sheet which covers the basics about giving the assessment and accessing different features of FastBridge. I would have this printed and accessible before you and begin testing.
There is a link within that document for aReading & aMath Tips & Troubleshooting which covers some things proctors and students could run into during testing. I will add both to the staff dashboard.
Students do need headphones as test items and the instruction are read to them.
Makeups will be handled by individual teams.
Remember our coaches are here to help! Please reach out with questions to make sure you are prepared for testing. Thank you!
Thanks to everyone for completing the Google form to report Registered School Organizations! Here is the list of our current RSOs. If we are missing any, please let Elisa know.
Just a reminder to complete the KJHS Field Trip Form if you are planning to take students off site. Also, if you require bussing, please keep the following things in mind...
Transportation must be requested at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
The last 2 weeks of the school year will be blacked out.
Students will be required to use a Z-Pass for trips.
Bussing is limited to between 9 am and 2 pm and after 4:30 pm. Few exceptions to this will be made.
If you are holding class other than in your assigned room on a particular day, please call or email Barb/Kim/Val to let them know so we can track down students as needed. Also, if you are wanting to reserve a space for your class or after school activity (besides your room), please complete the Kingsley Building Use Request form. If you want to use PE indoor or outdoor spaces and/or equipment during the school day, please use the Gym & Outdoor Space Use form.
For 6th grade teachers... I.W.U. is looking for field placements for their IWU education majors. They have several elementary education majors who will be licensed 1st-6th grade, but are pursuing a Middle School endorsement in one or more subjects. They would like to give them some Middle School experience at the 6th grade level if possible. If you are interested in hosting one of these students, please complete the 6th grade teacher interest form: https://forms.gle/8eBshSGKxyvstd1s9 .
Visitors to our building should enter and exit through the main entrance (Door A, east side of the building off of Kingsley Street). While we understand this is inconvenient for parking, it is paramount to safety. Please remind any parents you meet with to sign out in the main office when they leave.
ISU is once again offering tutoring services in reading and math for students. We will be sending this information out to families but want you to be aware as well.

Thanks to everyone who is helping Elisa meet her goal of telling the Kingsley story in social media by sending her pictures! Please keep this up - it is so appreciated!
Click here for this year's math training schedule. The math training for this year is again an expectation for all middle school math teachers and LBS1's with a self-contained math class. Please place your request for a sub immediately so that your class may get covered. Please let Dan Lamboley and Elisa know if you are unable to attend training and/or if you have difficulty with securing a sub.
