Dear Kingsley staff,
As you can see from the calendar at the bottom of this site, there are a lot of fun things going on this week. Please remember to be vigilant in your supervision of students during these activities to we maintain a safe environment for everyone. Let's end this year with the same commitment to student learning and development that we've shown all year. Have a great week and finish strong!
Elisa, Sylvester, Dennis & Cory

Interactive Board Installation
An outside company will be removing your SMARTboard and projector and replacing it with the new Interactive Panel! Please remove any items near and or around your current Smartboard. We highly recommend removing them and placing them in a safe location.
Tech Removal
As we prepare to welcome new technology into the classroom, we must say goodbye to old tech. U5IT will be making a stop in each classroom to remove old technology. This includes:
VHS/DVD players - New boards no longer provide RCA inputs. There will be a small number of external DVD players provided to the Main Office/IMC to be checked out as needed.
Speakers - Interactive panels have nice speakers with subwoofers built in.
SB Pens/Eraser - IT will not be responsible for purchasing replacement pens. If pens are lost, old SB pens can be used as a replacement. You can leave the old SB Pens & Erasers in their current spot, and IT will collect them.
Recycle box - If you have any old technology that you no longer need or use, and you would like to recycle it. IT will be placing a box in the office that you can place this technology in, and tech will recycle it. (old headphones, mics, cables, etc.)
Projector Remote - Please put your Epson remote in the middle desk drawer of the teacher's desk, and IT will grab it when the projector is removed
Please complete the 24-25 KJHS Admin Feedback Survey and the 24-25 KJHS School Culture Feedback Survey. This information provides the basis for many decisions that will be made over the summer for the coming school year. Both surveys are anonymous unless you to identify yourself and your email address will not be collected.
Here is the 24-25 KJHS Checkout Form. Please be sure to complete all the parts that apply to you before leaving for the summer.
The following projects are planned for KJHS this summer...
Installation of interactive display boards in all classrooms.
The football field is getting 280 tons of topsoil added, being leveled, and then being seeded to restore it to its former glory.
The south bleachers in Neuman Gym are being removed.
Neuman Gym is being painted.
The Cougars Den (formerly known as the weight room) is having all equipment (with exception of 3 treadmills) removed and will then be cleaned and painted. Rubberized flooring will then be installed.
The 25-26 Master Schedule has been updated to include individual teachers' tentative schedules. Some changes may occur between now and the beginning of the school year, depending on what needs arise.
If you need something done in your room (painting, furniture change, movement of wall fixtures, etc.), please document it on the Summer 25 Room Needs sheet.
Our IL Empower Grant (SIP Grant) allows us to pay for core curricular work over the summer. Currently, we have allotted 20 hours of work for each teacher in the core curricular areas (math, science, literature & composition, and social studies). In addition, we have allotted 15 hours of curriculum work for anyone who teaches language arts. If you are going to do curricular work in these areas this summer, please complete the KJHS SIP Summer 25 Curriculum Work Plan Form by May 30, 2025.
In addition to curricular work, SIP hours have been allotted for those doing work on the building leadership team, PBIS teams, and truancy committee. Elisa will reach out to individuals on these teams to make arrangements for the summer.
The KJHS PBIS committee is looking for your feedback as part of our efforts to continuously improve the PBIS program at KJHS. Thank you in advance for completing the PBIS Feedback Form.
Please join us in welcoming Nathan Gallucci as the language arts teachers on Team 7-2!
We are proud to inform you that referral numbers for the 4th quarter are down 37% as compared to the same time period last year. Thank you for all you are doing to address student behavior with a calm and rational detachment. It's not easy and you are doing a great job!
Update: If you would like copies of the flyer to give to students or post in your classroom, please let Elisa know.
KJHS Night at Busch Stadium (Cubs vs Cardinals) is on Saturday, August 9, at 6:15 pm. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online through the KJHS Infinite Campus School Store. All proceeds go to support the KJHS and the last day to purchase tickets through KJHS is July 15th. We hope you can join us for this exciting launch to the 25-26 school year!

From the U5 Instructional Technology Coaches...
We have been piloting Hapara this semester with several of our teachers in multiple buildings. Hapara is a classroom management software for K-12 schools, focusing on tools that enhance digital learning and student safety. Very similar to GoGuardian, but with some different enhancements.
The consensus is they really like it. We would like to expand the pilot to anyone who would like to try Hapara for the rest of the school year, and to ask that you use this Getting Started, problem/Solution guide to get started.
The student support team and truancy committee are working diligently to improve student attendance. One of our Tier 1 strategies is to message KJHS families weekly with different attendance messages. Want to know what they are? Check out the KJHS Attendance Matters Calendar. Many thanks to Breanna Schwarz for creating this tool.
Please be sure you are working on your GCN modules, which are required annually by state code. Elisa emailed those staff members who still have a large number of modules to complete.
One of your benefits as a Unit 5 employee is access to our Employee Assistance Program. We encourage you to check out the program site to see if any of the many resources can meet your current and future needs.
