The Beyond the Books Educational Foundation Grants application process is open until 5:00 PM on Monday, March 1, 2021. Educators can apply for Mini Grants ($400 or less), Standard Grants ($401-$5000), and/or a Beyond the Box Grant ($7,500-$10,000).
Grant guidelines, rubrics, helpful hints and a link to the application software, SM Apply (https://beyondthebooks.smapply.org/), can be found on their website, http://beyondthebooksbn.com/.
Instead of reading announcements 1st hour, we are displaying them during lunch on the big screens & sharing them on the "Frequent Links" area of website daily.
Because students are used to information being shared in a visually appealing way (look at your GC banners & slide decks!), it was time to revamp our announcement format. A sample from last week is included.
If you have an announcement, please send it to Barb with key information bulleted. If you have a visual you'd like included, share that too! Otherwise, Barb add a little visual flare on your behalf.
Email Barb & she'll put extra masks for students in your mailbox.
If a student expresses a need for a gender-neutral bathroom, they trust you. Thank you for being someone a vulnerable student leans on!
KJ now has 2 gender-neutral restrooms available with gender-neutral restroom signage in compliance with 410 ILCS 35/Equitable Restrooms Act .
In the north end, students may use the nurse's well-student restroom.
In the south end, we have a restroom that is newly available to students, in the 7-2 office off Neuman Gym. Currently, this space is locked as no students have shown an interest. If you know of a student who needs that space, please let an admin know so we can be sure the student can access it.
If this topic is challenging for you personally, Stacie is willing to have a courageous conversation with you. Feel free to reach out.
Complete this Google Form ASAP if you schedule a vaccine during school hours so we can arrange sub coverage. No AESOP entry required; more info at the top of the Google Form.
What to expect after getting the vaccine? Here is a 1-page, CDC document that was emailed from HR.
