Last school year, you shared that it is impossible to track the list of students who are absent & their return dates.
No system will be perfect, but we're hoping to make this easier. #growth
Jennifer O'Brien, our school nurse, will begin sending an email daily including a "Return Dates" spreadsheet, with 1 tab per grade, to share student names who will be absent for an extended period & their return date. In consideration of HIPPA, no medical information will be shared on this spreadsheet.
The information shared on the "Return Dates" spreadsheet is considered confidential & should only be used for professional purposes.
Order from the student spirit wear store here through August 25. Any proceeds benefit the KJHS PTO.
If you ordered from the Staff Store, items will arrive near 9.13.21.
Each assessment is designed to take 20-30 minutes. Lindsay O'Brien, our FastBridge/Illuminate coach is here to help. Please reach out to her with questions to prepare for testing.
Testing Times per Team:
A couple ideas for who could administer the test.
Each team teacher could give the test during a specific class period.
The math teacher may want to give the aMath test & an ELA teacher may want to give the aReading test.
By Thursday, 8.26, please share your testing time.
Helpful Info:
Illuminate Cheat Sheet: Basics about giving the assessment & accessing FastBridge features. It's advisable to review it & have it available during testing. If you print it, there are multiple links to print too.
aReading & aMath Tips & Troubleshooting: Covers things proctors and students could run into during testing. Print prior or have accessible during testing.
FAQ document: Coaches submitted your questions from Institute & the questions have been answered here.
Students need headphones as test items and the instructions are read to them.
You will not need to sit by your device to monitor a dashboard to resume a test or see who is speeding through. The only way you'll be able to encourage students to slow down is by walking around and monitoring.
If a student takes the test too quickly (aka random guessing), their results will show invalid after they finish; they will be scheduled to retake the test. Please share this information with students.

When we discover a student need, we will send an email to all Promise Council Shout Out members. If you can help, reply to the email; if you can't help, delete the email & know another opportunity will arise. That's all it takes!

This week, we will be zip tying lockers that we are supposed to be vacant & contacting families if a student does not have a lock.
We have a limited number of students with IEPs who can carry backpacks as an IEP accommodation. Case managers have/very soon will be notifying all of the classroom teachers who serve these students.
In Hallways: If you see a student in the hallway with a backpack during the school day, it may be a student with an IEP accommodation allowing the carrying of backpacks so do not feel like you need to say anything to that child.
In Classrooms: If a case manager has not emailed you about a specific child being allowed to carry a backpack then ask the child to return the backpack to their locker.
