Dennis shared this on 1.4.21 via email but a review is prudent.
"Remote-only students: Marked them present every day.
Hybrid but at home students: Mark them present each day they are at home."
Why? IL School Code is that a student who attends any portion of a synchronous class (not the majority of class but any portion) can be counted present & ISBE guidance is that completing asynchronous work is equivalent to present.
"If you notice a pattern of absence, please reach out & communicate with families & students. If there is not an improvement in student attendance, please reach out to Dennis.
If you want attendance changed after 4p.m., email Kim Mattocks."
An addition...If a hybrid student is in covid protocol as noted in IC as "remote learner," mark them present.
On Monday & Tuesday, please notice if any of your in-person classes have students seated within the 6 foot bubble of one another. If students need to be seated within 6 feet of one another, complete this spreadsheet for our contact tracers to use.
Our hybrid bell schedule is unchanged. Nothing new in 20-21...how refreshing!
To help at-home learners (hybrid or full remote), below are schedules by grade that were emailed to families to assist their at-home organization. This may be a resource to link to team webpages or Google Classrooms.
Here is a combination of all COVID procedures in one place.
There are two ways you'll have access to this information.
If you have a student, you will get an email from the nurse with student initials.
In Infinite Campus attendance area, the hybrid student could be coded as "Remote Learner/RL." This code does not count them as absent. If a hybrid student is in covid protocol, they will access learning materials synchronously if you've invited students to synch in or asynchronously; therefore, hybrid students in covid protocol are counted as present.
Headsets were approved for grant purchase & ordered for those interested. We will get them to you as soon as they arrive. I plan to do a second order for anyone else in a couple weeks.
Thanks Amber for the Tech Updates!
In an email from Dayna Brown to all users on 1.4.21, the following was shared.
"as we shared prior to break, we will shift our primary focus to what is happening within our school buildings rather than solely on community metrics, when deciding whether or not in-person learning can occur. The District will publicly report the number of positive COVID cases and those in quarantine - for both staff and students - in each individual school. We will also monitor the level of community spread in McLean County, per IDPH metrics.
There may be a temporary pause to in-person instruction if any of the following occur:
School building metrics match community metrics when there is substantial community spread, as determined by IDPH
If 15% or more of students and staff test positive in a class, grade level, or building
Availability of staff and subs impacts the ability to remain open
Changes in guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), McLean County Health Department, and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
Schools are placed in a Restore Illinois Phase that requires they close"
In an email from Dayna Brown on 1.4.21 to all users, the following guidance for U5 students teachers was provided. Student teachers are expected to:
Provide evidence of a negative test prior to beginning student teaching
Test weekly for COVID and provide the results to the principal at their school
Will stay 6 feet or more apart from students and staff and when unable to do so will not be in close proximity for more than 15 minutes
Will stay home when they show any symptoms of COVID and follow Unit 5’s criteria to return
If test positive for COVID or identified as a close contact will notify their supervising teacher and building principal immediately, complete the staff reporting form, and follow the exclusion protocol of Unit 5.
