U5 PLC Q & A - because inquiring minds want to know!
KJHS PLC Smart-er Goals - Many hands make for light work. #community #growth
ON LATE STARTS, A U5 TRADITION HAS BEEN TO WEAR COLLEGE GEAR. WHY? PLCs were designed for educators to learn from one another, inquire & test out new strategies then try things out in classrooms then reconvene & assess effectiveness of those trials. (Sounds like the science & art of teaching to me!) To visually show students your commitment to learning through PLCs & your continued education past high school, staff began wearing their alumni gear.
How do I find National Percentiles? With MAP, U5 has consistently used MAP national percentiles to consider intervention placement. We will continue using national percentiles but now in FastBridge. Discover how to look up FastBridge National Percentiles here.
When does the Fall Testing Window end? 10.8.21
Where will I be able to look at FastBridge data? On 9.24 Teacher Institute, we will have EduClimber training. EduClimber is where we will aggregate student data.
I teach Lang Arts & need to enter writing benchmarks! Where do I do this? PLC on 9.15.21 will help.
Overall, our kids are doing a great job wearing masks. THANK YOU for your patience & gentle but firm reminders. During team meetings, we talked about steps to take if a student refuses to wear a mask properly. Part of that included a parent notification via email. Below is an email template 7-1 was kind enough to share. #worksmarternotharder #sharingiscaring
Greetings!
I am writing to ask for your help. Your Cougar is struggling to wear their mask throughout the day. We are all sympathetic to this, as no one enjoys wearing a mask. But, Illinois is still requiring that masks be worn throughout the school day.
We've previously taken the steps below to help your Cougar be successful at wearing their mask:
Signs to promote proper mask wearing
Non-verbal prompts
Whole-class reminders
Mask breaks outside when possible
Verbal warning
Offered and provided your student with a new/different mask
Conferenced one-on-one
We are asking for you to encourage your child to wear their mask over their mouth and nose throughout the school day. Issuing consequences for improper mask use is not our preferred next step, so our hope is that your support will prevent any further issues. If further issues arise, Administrators will step in with a consequence sequence.
We appreciate you, we appreciate your support, and we look forward to a school year without masks. Until then, please help us to help your child be successful, so our focus can remain on teaching.
Thank you,
Thank you for keeping your Assignment Portals up to date! I've already had a couple parents comment that it's so helpful. #waytogo
