All of us need to make a sincere & consistent effort to be in the hall during passing times. Yes, sometimes things come up & we cannot make it into the hall. But that should be the exception, not the rule. Some staff are in the hall every passing time. They need your help. Passing periods are not contractual planning time. #teameffort #weneedeachother
During the week of Veterans Day, we would like to celebrate Veterans in the Kingsley community. Students will feel pride when we feature U.S. Veterans in their family by displaying our thanks, basic service information & photos during student lunches.
Can we feature a Veteran in your family? If so, please email Barb Eaton their name, branch, service years &/or rank & a photo.

Themes from these books: Courage, resilience, & identity
On 10.20, KJHS will Data Day (agenda here) in room 301. Cycle 2 will begin on Monday, 10.25.21.
How do we prepare for a productive Data Day?
Math, Lit & Comp & LA teachers have already:
Benchmarking was complete with aReading, aMath, & the Writing Screener. :-)
Math Action Items: Add students who fell at or below the 16% to your tab on the recommendations sheet & check the areas you are seeing flagging in class.
L&C Action Items: Add students who fell at or below the 16% to your tab on the recommendations sheet & check the areas you are seeing flagging in class. If you did a Comprehension Interview or had an F&P done on a student, please add that to the student's data in eduCLIMBER.
LA Action Items: After scoring the Writing Screener, give a list of students who flagged to the LBS1 on your team so the LBS1 can perform, score & share outcomes of the Diagnostic. Add students to your tab on the recommendations sheet & check areas of concern.
LBS1s & Interventionists by Friday, 10.15.21: Administer & score the Writing Diagnostic & add that to each student's Writing Diagnostic results in eduCLIMBER.
How are interventions for students with IEPs working in 21-22?
Students who are being reevaluated are being prioritized. Because re-evaluation dates are firm, IEP students must participate in interventions by specific dates if students are being reevaluated for services.
What happens after Data Day?
Academic Interventions: As Data Day wraps up, I will create a schedule in collaboration with our Coaches & Academic Interventionists then I will inform families of student's entering intervention. Interventionists will celebrate success with families whose student is exiting intervention. Counselors will alter student schedules then we will begin as soon as possible.
EF & SAIG: EF interventions will begin on 10.25. To organize SAIG, Aaron Ellison, our awesome MTSS Interventionist, will meet with students recommended the week of 10.25, determine best service alignment & we'll get those interventions kicked off on Monday, 11.1.
PBIS Tier 2: Our Tier 2 coach, Kim Johnson, will attend Data Day. After data day, the Tier 2 team will meet to review Data Day discussions, SAEBR & mySAEBR information to create supports for students going onto CICO & ICICO.
How does SABRS & mySABRS fit into this?
Now that your Teams have finished the SAEBRS & had students complete mySAEBRS, our counselors, psychologist & I met to consider that data. We identified students who we strongly anticipate needing an EF intervention or SAIG using your feedback. Counselors will be briefly touching base about a few students so we can best place them. Counselors will complete the SAEBRs area of the recommendations sheet .
BEFORE CONFERENCES IDEAS & TIPS
Reframe Messages of Families Can Hear Us (Check this out!)
During team meetings, Kingsley teachers shared their wisdom & expertise related to Family Teacher Conferences. Some ideas shared are below.
Wearing a name tag with name & content area helps parents feel more at ease. Providing parents name tags helps teacher remember names too.
Letting families begin sharing at the conference by asking questions like:
"What is your child saying about school this year?" or
"From your perspective, how is the school year starting off?"
Using the child's name in conversation with the parent.
AFTER CONFERENCES REPORTING FORM: Share your conference totals by Monday, 10.25.21 at 4pm.
Delivery at 11:00
Box meals will consist of either ham or turkey on a croissant with lettuce & tomato served with chips, a pickle & a chocolate chip cookie.
Dietary considerations: PTO has ordered meals to serve all staff so there will be some nondairy meals, gluten free meals & vegetarian options. If you requested one of these meals, please see the PTO rep in the Main Street Retreat. If you did not request one of these meals, please leave them there so all staff can enjoy lunch.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available for free 24/7/365 to Unit 5 employees and family at 1-800-433-7916.
To troubleshoot & help you with the wireless adapters, let us know what problems pop up with the wireless adapters. Amber will be able to type a solution or if you know a solution to something, feel free to help one another out with a solution.
When Nurse O'Brien knows of a confirmed positive case, we print the student's schedule & an administrator accesses the seating chart for each class using the seating chart master.
An administrator then visits each area to evaluate & measure the area around where the positive case has occurred to develop a tentative list of close contacts.
We then look at attendance records for all potential close contacts to confirm they were in attendance on the dates of concern. Next we phone all families, print required documentation & directions for them, and greet stressed families as they arrive, helping them process the timelines, make up work routines, and safety considerations.
Sometimes this takes at least an hour or more for each case....all the while our typical ups & downs of the school day occur.
Your accurate & updated seating charts are super helpful. Thank you for taking those extra steps! We appreciate your patience Please know that we so appreciate your patience & understanding while the office juggles these tasks.
