Dear Kingsley staff,
It's really easy this time of year to focus on what is going wrong, what is not turning out the way we expected, etc. However, as we walked around the building this week, we saw students involved in projects where they were giving back to our community, students building roller coasters to apply scientific concepts, students breaking rocks to find fossils and then volunteering to clean up the mess afterwards, and students practicing yoga and boxing alongside staff. We saw teachers conferencing with students about their grades and progress towards their goals as well as teachers taking risks with new strategies to engage students in learning. This is only a snippet of the great things happening here at KJHS. Great things fueled by you and your commitment to student learning. So, this weekend, make your focus all the things that have gone right this week because that is what is worthy of your time and energy. Have a great weekend!

KJHS Administration has started using social probation as a consequence for students who are struggling to meet behavior expectations during the school day. If placed on social probation, a student will not be able to attend any extracurricular events at KJHS. The administrative team has been educating students on this policy via KJ News and lunch discussions and notified families via the KJ Family Connection.

Unless the student is on a behavior contract or plan that dictates to do so, please do not send students to the office for non-disruptive behavior. For example, if a student is 15 minutes late to class, simply write an "out of area" referral. The office will take are of it in a timely manner.
If you are writing a referral to document an issue you or your team is addressing, please submit it as a minor referral. Major referrals should only be used for issues that the administrative team needs to address.
