Hello everyone,
Thanks to all of you who came out last night as we reunited to start the school year. We missed those of you who couldn't be with us. As we look forward to this coming school year, we cannot begin to tell you how happy we are that we have the privilege of working with all of you. Your passion and expertise make us better every day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

As always, we will be having Cafe/Hallway Expectations presentations the morning of the first day of school, August 16th. Here is that schedule.
Here is the schedule for 8/14 & 8/15.
For both safety and financial purposes, students need to be using their IDs to scan on and off the bus. Right now, the compliance rate at KJHS is 3%. We will talk about how we as a school will be addressing this during our beginning of the year institute days.
There will be an opening PBIS assembly during 8th hour on Friday, August 18. More details will be shared during institute time on August 14th.
In an effort to protect your planning periods, administration is asking for teams to create a team Google calendar and mark your availability. Please feel free to mark key planning periods as "busy". We will use these calendars to schedule meetings. Please note that administration can only schedule regular meetings on Mondays or Tuesdays due to other commitments. Thanks!
For those of you who love to get everything on your calendar, here are some key dates...
Please review the 23-24 KJHS RSO listings and let Elisa know if you have any changes that need to be made. We have highlighted those clubs that currently do not have a sponsor.
We have several staff teams to serve on. Please check out the 23-24 KJHS Committee descriptions. Please note that you can be on the Wellness Team or 20th Birthday Team without joining the Building Leadership Team.
The KJHS Social Committee needs your 2003 picture to help commemorate the 20th birthday Kingsley. Please send your photos to Anita Holland.
The Back to School Edition of the Kingsley Family Connection was sent to KJHS families at the beginning of August.
We are currently looking for two LBS1s and a guidance counselor for the 23-24 school year. To make sure our students get the support they need in the meantime, Tim Penhollow will be serving as a guidance counselor on Thursdays and Fridays. We are also seeking on long term sub to serve as a co-teacher for the first semester at the 8th grade level. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please let Elisa know.
We are in need of an additional CARES case manager. If you are interested in this, please let Elisa know.
Here are the current team rosters. The schedules have now been made public so we are limiting changes. Here is what you can do to help us out...
Please check your course rosters against your team list and let us know if there are any students in your classes that are not on your team's roster. We are noticing that IC does not always honor team assignments, especially in advisory and tutorial.
If you see a scheduling error, please let Elisa know. Guidance is currently understaffed and Sylvester has sports going on so Elisa is the "go to" for schedule changes.
If a parent talks to you about a scheduling error, please have them complete the Schedule Change Request form. Families were sent this information on Thursday prior to schedules being released.
New to KJHS this year...
Lakeisha Banks: Paraprofessional (joining us in October)
Caryn Birchler: LBS1, Team 6-1
Aldahir (Al) Cruz: Math, Team 8-1
Chrissy Decker: Paraprofessional
Kaleigh Menken: Office EOP
The KJHS Staff Back to School Social will be on Friday, August 11th at BloNo Pizza Company from 5 - 7 pm and families are welcome. Join us as we reunite before the start of the school year!
If a class with a student who has any health condition listed above is planning a Field Trip, they MUST have a trained person attend the field trip. It is the administrator’s responsibility to ensure this is in place before approving the field trip. Nurses will not be able to attend field trips. If a trained person is not able to go and serve as a delegated care aide, the field trip will not be able to continue. Parents can not legally waive this school responsibility. Any willing staff member (teacher, TA, EOP) is also encouraged to be trained as a delegated care aide and can do so at any point during the year by completing the online course and session with your nurse.
KJ administration is recommending that one member of every core team get trained as there is no guarantee that administrator will be available to go on trips.
