Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
March is our 4th annual Celebrate Our Differences month. The goal of Celebrate Our Differences month is to build awareness of populations who are different from ourselves and gain an appreciation for each other. Each grade level will hear from a guest speaker. Topics range from disabilities to diversity.
Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and climate change, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world wl a better place for all.
Rice bowls will be sent home this week. On Fridays during Lent, students are invited to bring in coins for our Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl Penny Challenge. Each grade will have a jug in the cafeteria during morning carpool. Individual rice bowls returned the week of March 24 will earn extra points towards the homeroom total. Rice Bowls due April 17. Please label with child's name and homeroom.
The 8th grade students will lead K-8 students in the Stations of the Cross during Lent on Fridays, March 7, 21, and 28. All sessions will begin at 1:45 p.m. in the church.

Inclusion of Students With Learning Differences
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Archdiocese of Louisville has a stated education philosophy, which promotes a model of inclusion for children with disabilities in our schools. We believe that children with mild disabilities can be successful within the regular classroom setting when the instruction is differentiated and strategic teaching methods are utilized and appropriate accommodations are implemented. The Archdiocese of Louisville Intervention Protocol has been developed to help ensure that the learning differences of our students are effectively addressed. In addition, the protocol ensures that our principals, counselors and teachers will have the guidance and support of a consistent educational process that provides parents of students with learning differences a better understanding of how their child’s needs will be addressed.
Every school is unique in the particular resources it can provide in the regular classroom setting. A Student Strategy Plan (SSP) is written for students experiencing difficulty in the classroom and a Student Accommodation Plan (SAP) is written for students with a diagnosed disability. The Archdiocese Intervention Protocol steps can be found here.
At St. Gabriel, our vision is to "empower every child...the whole child". This includes students with mild disabilities ranging from ADHD, sensory processing disorder, to anxiety disorder as well as students who speak English as a second language. Our teachers and staff work diligently to support our students with learning differences with a variety of strategies. We currently have 74 SAP's, 10 SSP's, and 8 medical SAP's. Our reading interventionist works with 41 students in grades 2-5. Additionally, we partner with Associates in Pediatric Therapy, JCPS, and the Wright Center to offer services during the school day to 23 students. While we cannot provide the resources to serve every need, we work closely with the families and outside agencies to provide additional support. We are committed to a partnership that meets students where they are and helps them grow.
We are proud that our student population is becoming more diverse and in turn, we continue to seek out solutions to help us meet the needs of our students.
If you have any questions about intervention plans, please feel free to contact me at dchancellor@stgabriel.net or (502) 239-5535 ext. 268.
Blessings,
Denise Chancellor
Learning Coordinator

Re-enrollment is NOW OPEN! On 3/21/25 an email was sent with Re-enrollment instructions. If you did not receive an email, please first check your junk email folder. If you still do not see it, please reach out to us at schoolregister@stgabriel.net for help. Please note: Tuition Agreement, Bus Registration, and ASE will be part of this process.
As stated above, this is a requirement to be fully registered for the 2025-2026 School Year. Your child’s spot will not be guaranteed until this Re-enrollment has been submitted. This must be completed prior to April 11, 2025 in order to avoid late fees. If not completed by that time, the following late fees will be assessed:
• Between April 12, 2025 and May 9, 2025, we will assess a $50 late fee.
• Between May 10, 2025 and July 31, 2025, we will assess a $100 late fee.
• After July 31, 2025, we will assess a $200 late fee and your child will not be placed into a Homeroom for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Do you have any announcements to share? We would love to share your athletic victories, special events, or opportunities for students! Email announcements@stgabriel.net.
The technology committee is working on a new long range plan and we want to hear from you. Please complete by Monday, March 24.
Tuition rates were published today. There will continue to be a full tuition rate and a rate for active parishioner families. We encourage our families to keep in mind that the actual cost to educate a student is greater than paid tuition. Therefore, to bridge that financial gap, we rely on the generous support from our parish community each year. Please be advised that to be considered an active parishioner, annual stewardship cards must be on file to receive the active parishioner tuition rate. Tuition agreements will be completed as part of the FACTS Re-enrollment process online. They will not be mailed this year.
It's time to register for St. Gabriel's summer camp for students entering K-6 for 2025-26 school year. Summer camp start date is June 2.
Please email preschool@stgabriel.net to reserve your spot. Please include your child’s first and last name, current grade, and DOB.
Applications for the 2025-26 school year are now available! Know someone who may be interested? Help spread the word!
Visit our website to apply. Preschool through 8th grade will use the same application process. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. In order to receive preference, current and parish families who are ADDING students must apply by the priority deadline.
This is for NEW students only. Returning students will complete re-enrollment through FACTS in March.
