Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s that time of year when change is visible all around us. We notice the trees as they begin to show us their color before losing their leaves. The mornings are crisper and a jacket could be needed for the day. It is hard to believe that the first day of Fall is tomorrow, September 23. When we look at the children who entered our classrooms just a month ago, they are changing and growing, too. We are excited to see them making new friends, adjusting to new routines, and trying new activities!
Along with the visible changes we’ve noticed, there are also internal transformations happening. The children are settling into their routines, learning the names of new friends, engaging with new materials, and accomplishing tasks independently. Change is always happening.
As the season is changing, it is a perfect time to get adjusted to high expectations and raise the bar. We have worked hard to start this school year feeling more back to normal, yet energized to get rules, routines, and expectations back to a higher level. Teachers are building relationships and connections with their students and families, and partnership with parents is key. We are striving for positive communication. Thank you for your support as we work to reset routines, expectations, and express positive vibes. Fall is a time of change and resetting routines if needed. A few tips are:
Create a morning routine- the start of the day should be designed to lower stress, not raise it.
Enforce regular bedtime schedules for more restful sleep
Make a family calendar to stay on schedule
Set up a no phone zone and make time for tech free family time
Designate a comfortable and efficient spot for your child to do their homework
Foster a growth mindset- take a positive approach and view when challenges arise
We want your child to have a fun, challenging experience at St. Gabriel! Of course, some days will be better than others, but as the days cool down and school heats up, we all want to work with you to help your child succeed!
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer Schulz
Assistant Principal
