Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
The Scholastic Book Fair is back! Book fair will be available for in-person and virtual shopping. In-person shopping will be October 9th - October 12th. We’re so excited to connect our community through the joy of reading and create a fun virtual experience for our kids.
Parents can set up an eWallet for your child(ren). You and family members can contribute to the eWallet and your child(ren) doesn't need to bring cash!
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
We can’t wait to bring the magic of storytelling to St. Gabriel. Visit the book fair homepage at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/stgabrielarchangelschool.
It's back! Fall Into Reading Night for K-3 will be Monday, October 23. Space was limited to first 50 registrations. THIS EVENT IS FULL! Families will enjoy several activity stations followed by a bonfire and s'mores!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe that October is here and it is already time for conferences next week! Our teachers have been working hard with each student the past few weeks to prepare for the October 12, 2023 conference day. They have been reviewing classroom assessments, goal sheets, MAP scores, and much more to help prepare for a meaningful and productive student-led conference. Letters have been sent home with your confirmed appointment day and time.
We will have student-led conferences, where students meet with their parents and teachers to lead a discussion of their learning goals and share the formative and summative work that illustrates their progress toward their goals. Student-led conferences allow students to take ownership of their learning as they identify learning goals and achievement toward those goals. With student-led conferences, students, teachers, and parents become partners in improving student engagement and achievement. This truly gives an opportunity to share information with a positive approach and establish a successful outcome.
Here are some guidelines we ask you to follow to ensure your child has the best possible conference experience:
Before the Conference
Families and teachers coordinate a mutually convenient time to meet for the student-led conference. In-person conferences are preferred but virtual will be an option. (conference scheduling sheet)
Families communicate to the teacher any specific questions or concerns to be addressed during the conference.
During the Conference
Student shares reflections, work samples, and goals. Parents listen quietly during this portion.
Stakeholders ask follow-up and clarifying questions during the student-led conference.
After the Conference
Stakeholders work with the student to achieve the goals set forth during the conference.
Families agree to receive communications from the teacher to review the progress of the developed goals.
Student-led conferences allow an important opportunity for students to take charge of their own learning and share that learning with the adults who matter most to their education. Thank you for your partnership in this experience. We want conferences to be a positive experience for all involved.
We look forward to seeing you on October 12!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Schulz
