Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Winter MAP testing began January 9. Please make an extra effort to ensure your child arrives on time, eats breakfast, and has a snack on testing days. While MAP is only one snapshot of how your child is doing, it does provide valuable data to help teachers plan instruction to meet your child's learning needs.
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
With the new year, January is traditionally a time where people set resolutions. Another tradition is to pick a word for the year to represent a focus. This year my word is “renew”. It is such a privilege to lead our wonderful school. This is my sixth year at Saint Gabriel, and I never want to become stale in my position. This year I want to be intentional about finding ways to bring new energy to my work. There are always ways to do things differently- build on the things that are going well and improve areas of growth.
As a school we are also committed to continuous improvement. Our school board has been a tremendous partner as we work to carry out the goals of our school improvement plan. Our school improvement plan is a living document and is updated regularly based on feedback from our stakeholders. The goals are based on the four domains of the National Catholic Standards and Benchmarks of Effective Catholic Schools (NSBECS). These are our school goals for the 2023-24 school year:
Domain: Mission and Catholic Identity
Goal: Intentionally integrate Catholic social teaching and school vision into school programming.
Domain: Governance and Leadership
Goal: Develop structures and processes to identify students requiring support beyond Tier 1 and monitor impact to ensure all students are growing and developing.
Domain: Academic Excellence
Goal: Faculty collaborate in professional learning communities to analyze data and design instruction to address the diverse needs of each student. All grade levels will meet projected growth expectations for MAP (reflected in growth summary report).
Domain: Operational Vitality
Goals:
Increase student enrollment (preschool through 8th grade) by 15% by 2024.
Increase opportunities for student agency.
Thank you for your partnership in this complex work.
Blessings,
Lara Krill
Principal

To clarify, current families with students in K-7 who will be returning next year do NOT need to do anything until March!
It is time to start thinking about enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. This process will be a little different this year so please read carefully.
Many of you are familiar with the FACTS Management System for tuition payments and tuition assistance applications. This year Saint Gabriel School and Preschool will be transitioning to utilizing FACTS for enrollment as well. FACTS will replace the online registration system/ mailed tuition agreements that we used in the past, and families will use your same FACTS login. The hope is to streamline the registration experience for families.
