Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is time for fall MAP testing for grades K-8. What is MAP? MAP is a research-based organization that supports students and educators worldwide by creating assessments and learning tools that measure growth and proficiency. The Fall MAP testing session started this week and will continue until September 21. MAP Growth is designed to measure and track student achievement and growth over time. Achievement scores show how well your child has learned a certain skill in each subject area compared to similar students nationwide. Growth is the personal measurement of your child’s progress over the year. Ideally, each child will improve in achievement and growth. Teachers can use this information to tailor instruction to challenge every student, whether they are below, at, or above grade level and help him or her grow. There are some new testing requirements by the Archdioceses of Louisville that we are excited to implement.
K-1 students will take:
MAP Math Growth (K-2)
MAP Reading Growth (K-2)
2nd grade students will take:
MAP Math Growth (2-5)
MAP Reading Growth (2-5)
3rd-8th grade students will take:
MAP Growth math, reading and language
8th grade students will take
Algebra 1
We will continue to test three times a year in the fall, winter and spring.
We feel it is very important that each child has a positive testing experience. Please encourage your child to take his/her time on these assessments. Be sure they are rested and have a good breakfast. We look forward to sharing the results at conferences in October.
Have a wonderful, safe Labor Day weekend,
Denise Chancellor
Learning Coordinator

Fall MAP testing began this week. Please make an extra effort to ensure your child arrives on time, eats breakfast, and has a snack on testing days. While MAP is only one snapshot of how your child is doing, it does provide valuable data to help teachers plan instruction to meet your child's learning needs.
Saint Gabriel will be hosting its annual PTSO Walk-A-Thon on Friday, October 27th. Funds raised help provide student scholarships, school enrichment, teacher request for their classrooms and teacher encouragement throughout the year. We are looking for community business to help support our walk this year through various sponsorship levels. This is a great way to promote a local business. Family and Individual donations will begin later in October.
This year's COVID guidance: If a student tests positive for Covid-19, he/she should isolate for five days. After five days, students may return to school if they are no longer showing symptoms and will need to wear a mask through day 10.
The following set of strategies for everyday operation are also in place:
Students must stay home when experiencing symptoms of respiratory or gastrointestinal infections, such as cough, fever, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Promoting hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette which includes the expectation of regular hand washing and the covering of coughs and sneezes.
Cleaning and disinfecting the facility, particularly high-touch surfaces, at least once a day.
Optimizing ventilation and new air filters in the building
