On Giving Tuesday and the Archdiocese of Louisville is participating in iGiveCatholic. Please support our parish and school students with our campus paving project.
At St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Parish and School our spirit soars, but our cars - not so much! Our lot has had a lot of wear and tear as a result of two brutal icy winters. Ice is more detrimental than snow. Salt, snow removal and heavy plow equipment have damaged the sealant in our parking lot. We have many potholes and rough spots.
We do not currently have budgeted funds to grade and reseal the lot, but we’d like to do so next summer right after our festival. We also expect other priorities to take precedence in next budget year, including the completion of our epoxy floor replacement in the school and an entire HVAC system in the Multi-purpose Building. Your contribution can help make that happen. The estimate is $57,000 to repave and seal the lot, along with filling potholes and striping parking spaces and moving handicapped spots this summer,
Our Campaign Goal:
$57,000
There was an error in the Trumpet last week. Please note elastic waist bands and cargo pants are not allowed instead of now allowed.
SGS is a Safe and Welcoming Place
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are grateful for your ongoing support and collaboration in our efforts to ensure a safe environment. As we focus on keeping our school campus safe, we believe it is essential for us to reinforce our safety protocols and communicate openly with each other. Collaborating on strategies and sharing best practices will help us ensure that everyone feels secure while on campus.
As we strive to maintain a safe and welcoming environment on our campus, it is essential that we remind our students and their families about the importance of reporting any issues they encounter. We want everyone to feel secure and heard; your role in this is invaluable.
Thank you for your dedication to this important cause. Together, we can maintain a safe and nurturing environment for our students and staff to thrive.
We would like to remind everyone of key safety protocols we have in place. These include:
Access Control: All visitors must sign in at the front office and wear a visitor badge.
Emergency Drills: Regular drills for fire, tornado, earthquake, lockdown, and evacuation procedures are scheduled throughout the year.
Safety Committee: We have a safety committee with staff represented from all campus departments. The committee meets monthly to review our safety plan and make improvements. Some of the committee's current projects include curtains for windows in junior kindergarten and faculty lounge, shades for STEM lab, add speakers in the hallways for announcements, new camera for front door, and emergency response kits for all classrooms.
Reporting Procedures:
Students: Students are encouraged to report suspicious activity or concerns to a staff member immediately. All students identify at least one safe adult at school and home during guidance classes. We also have a See Something, Say Something survey students can access by QR code or in Schoology.
Parents/ Guardians: Please report emergencies or extreme damage using the communication methods below:
Contact a staff member
The emergency line from Parish (after school hours)
School or parish office
Facilities: Call parish number + 6433 (damage)
Communication: In case of emergency, parents/ guardians will be contacted using our Parent Alert system. Please make sure your contact information is up to date with the school office.
Each of you is part of our community, and we need your commitment to making St. Gabriel a safe and welcoming place. Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Schulz
Assistant Principal
It is time to start thinking about enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year. We will continue to use FACTS enrollment.
Current Students
We will assume all current students (grades K-7) will return for next school year unless we receive written notification that your child is not returning. Please email school@stgabriel.net by November 30 if your child will not return. Current families will complete re-enrollment packets through FACTS in March.
New Students
Applications for next year are now open. Families will complete an online application through FACTS. Visit our website for more information. Priority deadline to apply is January 15, 2025.
Tuition Assistance (K-8):
Financial Aid applications for students in grades K-8 for the 2025-2026 school year are now available. We are committed to assisting families who need financial aid to make a Catholic education a reality. Last year, over $400,000 in total financial aid was provided to school families from St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, the Archdiocese of Louisville, the Catholic Education Foundation, and their partners. There is one financial aid application to apply for all aid sources. Apply through FACTS Management System by November 30, 2024. For more information, please visit www.ceflou.org or visit our webpage for the link to information about Financial Aid. Families who apply by the Nov. 30th deadline will receive their award notifications by March 1.
Thank you for choosing to partner with Saint Gabriel School for your child(ren)’s education.
This year, during Discover Catholic Schools Week: Nov. 17-23 we will be administering a Family Engagement survey to parents/guardians and students (grades 3-8). We are committed to continuous school improvement and rely on the feedback of our school community to ensure this commitment leads to the further growth of our program. Next week, you will receive a link to the survey through which you will be asked to provide feedback on our program effectiveness. We thank you in advance for your full participation. The link to the survey will be emailed to families on Monday, November 18th.

It is time for Thanksgiving Baskets for Fern Creek High View United Ministries. We have a goal of 100 baskets this year to come from the St. Gabriel Community. Can your family sponsor a basket? Can your group sponsor a basket or two?
We are staggering the groups this year, because the response last year was so great that it was a little much having all groups and families in the cafeteria all at one time! Last year, this service opportunity was so fun, and it was wonderful to see all the intergenerational teamwork happening to provide baskets to FCHUM.
Join us at our large Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, November 23rd. With ample parking and over 70 vendors offering hand-crafted items just in time for the holidays. Vendors are set up in the Gymnasium and Cafeteria.
There is a raffle drawing for a handmade quilt and for items donated by our vendors.
