Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
March will be our 4th annual Celebrate Our Differences month. The goal of Celebrate Our Differences month is to build awareness of populations who are different from ourselves and gain an appreciation for each other. Each grade level will hear from a guest speaker. Topics range from disabilities to diversity.
As a reminder, Friday, March 14th will be a regular school day.
Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and climate change, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world wl a better place for all.
Rice bowls will be sent home this week. On Fridays during Lent, students are invited to bring in coins for our Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl Penny Challenge. Each grade will have a jug in the cafeteria during morning carpool. Individual rice bowls returned the week of March 24 will earn extra points towards the homeroom total. Rice Bowls due April 17. Please label with child's name and homeroom.
The 8th grade students will lead K-8 students in the Stations of the Cross during Lent on Fridays, March 7, 21, and 28. All sessions will begin at 1:45 p.m. in the church.
Students in K-5 and their families are invited to participate in Spring Into Math night hosted by Mathnasium. Event will be Tuesday, March 11 from 6-7 p.m. There are still a few spots available. Registration is required.
Enjoy patriotic musical selections sung by our 5th graders! Performance will be in the gym on March 20 at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
Trimester 2 report cards and the 2025-26 school calendar are being finalized and will be published next week.
Engagement Survey Results
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
In November, we asked you to complete a Family Engagement Survey. We received 118 responses from parents/ guardians. In addition, our students (grades 3-8) and our staff completed Teaching and Learning Surveys. These surveys are part of the Archdiocese of Louisville accreditation process.
Both the school board and faculty spent time analyzing the results of these surveys. This feedback informs school goal-setting and analysis. We are pleased this data affirms the efforts our school and aligns with the goals we have in place.
Saint Gabriel School is committed to continuous school improvement. We appreciate the feedback of our school community to ensure this commitment leads to further growth of our program.
Blessings,
Lara Krill
Principal
Wow! We had a fantastic gala event. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, we far surpassed our goal! Since we met our goal, students will have no homework the week of Derby and a popsicle party for the whole school! We are still tabulating final numbers and will share the final numbers with you soon.
I want to give a huge thank you to our gala planning committee: Lindsey Bickel, Carlee Chaffin, Nicole Krebs, Beth Minogue, and Erin Young. These ladies worked behind the scenes for almost a year planning this event, and we are so grateful for their time and dedication. Thank you also to our volunteers who helped with setup and worked the game booths and to Mrs. Adams for leading our “fund a need giving” portion of the evening.
We have great families and supporters here at St. Gabriel. This event showcased how we can come together for a great cause- our students!
Tuition rates were published today. There will continue to be a full tuition rate and a rate for active parishioner families. We encourage our families to keep in mind that the actual cost to educate a student is greater than paid tuition. Therefore, to bridge that financial gap, we rely on the generous support from our parish community each year. Please be advised that to be considered an active parishioner, annual stewardship cards must be on file to receive the active parishioner tuition rate. Tuition agreements will be completed as part of the FACTS Re-enrollment process online. They will not be mailed this year.
Applications for the 2025-26 school year are now available! Know someone who may be interested? Help spread the word!
Visit our website to apply. Preschool through 8th grade will use the same application process. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. In order to receive preference, current and parish families who are ADDING students must apply by the priority deadline.
This is for NEW students only. Returning students will complete re-enrollment through FACTS in March.
Bingo is one of our largest fundraisers. Funds are used to offer tuition assistance and capital projects. A schedule for this year has been created to assist with staffing volunteers. If you volunteer, your child may have a uniform break the next non-mass day! Please sign up using Sign Up Genius.
