Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe that winter break is almost here and it is already time for conferences next week. Our teachers have worked hard with each student the past few weeks to prepare for the February 15, 2024 conference day from 8 am to 7 pm. They have been reviewing classroom assessments, goal sheets, MAP scores, and much more to help prepare for a meaningful and productive student-led conference. Letters have been sent home with your confirmed appointment day and time.
We will have student-led conferences, where students meet with their parents and teachers to lead a discussion of their learning goals and share the formative and summative work that illustrates their progress toward their goals. Student-led conferences allow students to take ownership of their learning as they identify learning goals and achievement toward those goals. With student-led conferences, students, teachers, and parents become partners in improving student engagement and achievement. This allows sharing information with a positive approach and establishing a successful outcome.
Here are some guidelines we ask you to follow to ensure your child has the best possible conference experience:
Before the Conference
Families and teachers coordinate a mutually convenient time to meet for the student-led conference. In-person conferences are preferred but virtual will be an option. (conference scheduling sheet)
Families communicate to the teacher any specific questions or concerns to be addressed during the conference.
During the Conference
Student shares reflections, work samples, and goals. Parents listen quietly during this portion.
Stakeholders ask follow-up and clarifying questions during the student-led conference.
After the Conference
Stakeholders work with the student to achieve the goals set forth during the conference.
Families agree to receive communications from the teacher to review the progress of the developed goals.
Student-led conferences allow an important opportunity for students to take charge of their learning and share that learning with the adults who matter most to their education. Thank you for your partnership in this experience. We want conferences to be a positive experience for all involved.
We look forward to seeing you on February 15!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Schulz

It was a close competition: 532 cans for the Chiefs, 545 cans for the 49ers.
Good luck to both teams! It's a win for our community!
